Cows In Bathtubs
And Other Art Works
by Michelle Watson

Michelle Watson is a painter and photographer from Sylacauga, AL. Art has always been a force in her life. Starting with her mother, who was exceedingly artistic and creative in her daily life, to her grandmother, who was always creating - ceramics, painting, and sewing - to name a few. Surrounded by people who bolstered her imagination, Michelle grew up in an environment that encouraged creativity, and bred a love and passion for art.
Michelle’s love for photography blossomed while studying at the University of Montevallo, where she received a B.A. in Art. She went on to pursue a career in photography after graduating in 2010, but continued to draw and paint in her spare time. In the fall of 2018, she was met with an opportunity to help the local animal shelter by way of an art auction. Though painting had just been a hobby thus far, she decided to “go for it” and painted Rosie, the cow in a bathtub, and donated her to the auction. Little did she know how that one event and the cow would impact her life over the next year. After seeing how much joy people received from Rosie the Cow, she decided to continue painting more cows in bathtubs. Now, she is living out a dream she never could have imagined, as a full-time professional artist, painting and taking photos.
Michelle works mainly in acrylics, using bold colors and a technique of heavy blending, while also enhancing the small details in each work. She is inspired by colors and designs from flowers and decorative patterns. Her goal is to help others find a little joy and humor in life through her whimsical pieces. Most of her works are cows in bathtubs, but she also paints other animals and pet portraits.
