Jose the Cow in a Bathtub

Rosie the Cow in a Bathtub
So you're probably wondering "Michelle, why in the world would you put a cow in a bathtub?"
While at Montevallo, I took an oil painting class. The last assignment we had was to paint two things together that normally wouldn't belong together. So, in my delirious, sleep deprived state, I decided a cow in a bathtub would be a great idea. That cow was a family favorite. My roommate and I named him Jose and he brought so many smiles to everyone. He was hanging in my mother's kitchen for years until recently I decided to bring him home with me.
In 2018, I decided to donate a painting to an auction that benefited the local animal shelter. I hadn't painted anything serious in a while, and had never sold a painting, so I was struggling with what to paint. After many trashed ideas and sketches, I looked around the room, desperate for inspiration, and there he hung on the wall in all his glory, Jose. I thought, everyone who has ever seen this crazy painting loves it! What if I painted another? So I did.
Rosie the cow was born and did very well at the auction to my surprise. When I saw how much everyone loved her, I knew I had to keep it going, and I did. I am absolutely obsessed with my cows in their bathtubs now, and love the reactions they get! I'm so glad a silly idea can bring so much joy to someone.
